IMATIS DIAdem Reporting
Engine
A DIAdem reporting engine option adds powerful scientific
analysis & reporting functionality to a product suite
called IMATIS, developed by a Norwegian company called
CARDIAC. The IMATIS suite includes a Laboratory Information
Management (LIMS) and a Plant Information Management System
(PIMS) which enable visibility into both Lab and Production
environments simultaneously. The reporting functionality
has two main aspects, creating report templates using
customized DIAdem interfaces and invoking the reporting
engine to create reports using the templates.
The process of creating report templates utilizes DIAdem
as the main workbench. The users launch DIAdem within
a customized menu-driven environment that allows editing
of existing report templates and creation of new report
templates. Access is restricted to privileged users registered
in the IMATIS user manager. The WYSIWYG interface of DIAdem
provides the user with the ability to interactively visualize
the results of the iterative report building process.
Report templates can be saved to the IMATIS Application
Server making them available to other users. Reports are
executed server side and output reports sent back to the
client. Data filters and rules for each report are selected
making it easy for the users developing specific reports.
Once the report templates are created, a report can be
generated by simply selecting a report template and walking
through a wizard to select date ranges and dataset from
either IMATIS LIMS (sample registration info, analysis,
results, etc.,) and IMATIS PIMS (database tags containing
continuous data). Reports can be manually generated as
described or automatically generated based on an event
trigger in IMATIS. Overall, the DIAdem Reporting Engine
stands as a very powerful option to the versatile IMATIS
portal.
